Testly is an SAT and ACT preparation service operated by Borno ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the service handles and where it lives. The short version: you sign in with a Google account, your study progress stays on your own device, and we do not run ads or sell data.
Using Testly requires signing in with a free Google account, from which we receive basic profile information such as your name and email address to identify your account. Testly Pro, our optional paid subscription, is billed through our third-party payment processor, Polar, which handles your payment details; we do not store full payment-card information on our servers. We do not build advertising profiles.
Your practice history, study plan, settings, and other progress data are kept in your browser's storage (localStorage) so the app works instantly and offline. When you are signed in, we also store a copy — your progress and your AI tutor chat history — on our infrastructure (Upstash Redis), keyed to your account, so it syncs across the devices where you sign in. What this means:
When you use Testly, the AI tutor, the messages you send — along with relevant context such as the question you are working on — are transmitted to a third-party AI provider (Google Vertex AI or Anthropic) to generate a reply. Those providers process the content of your chat in order to respond. Please do not include personal information in tutor chats; it is never needed to get help with a question.
Testly does not display advertising, does not use advertising trackers, and does not sell or rent data to anyone.
Like most websites, the infrastructure that serves Testly may record standard technical logs (such as IP address, request path, and timestamp) for security, debugging, and capacity purposes. These logs are not used to identify or profile users.
Testly is designed for students preparing for college admissions tests. Signing in requires a Google account, which is subject to Google's own age requirements; aside from the basic profile information Google provides, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us (for example, by email), contact us and we will delete it.
If we change how the service handles data, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged prominently on the site.
